This challenge is one of several that is being hosted at
Thoughts of Joy, and involved reading five non-fiction books from more than one genre (authobiography, memoir, self-help, etc). If you visit Joy's site, she list links to review monthly for all her challenges. I've found some great books to add to my list by reading those reviews. Here's the books I read for the challenge:
1. Too Soon to Say Goodbye by Art Buchwald (autobio) - Buchwald's story of his time in a care center while he waited to die. Rated 3
2. The Fatal Shore by Robert Hughes (history) The story of the colonization of Australia. An interesting but huge book. Rated 3.5
3. And There Was Light by Jacques Lusseyran (autobio) Lusseyran recounts his experience of becoming blind at a young age and then his exploits as a fighter in the French Resistance against the Nazis. Rated 4.5
4. Law of Attraction by Michael Losier (self-help) This book details how to realize your dream and attai your desires through the power of positive thinking and visualization. Rated 2.5
5. An Ocean of Air by Gabrielle Walker (science) A fascinating book which combines the history of man's discoveries involving the atmosphere, what those discoveries were, and how it affects our lives. Rated 5
As always, this was an interesting challenge. I really enjoyed two of the books and managed to get through and learn something from the self-help book. (I hate self-help books so this one was pretty good considering.) I still have a stack of non-fiction books to read so I hope Joy will host this challenge again.

Hooray, Framed!!! Congratulations on completing the challenge; I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I have found since blogging that I don't read as many non-fiction books (too many other great recommendations out there), so sometimes a little incentive helps. :)
You're doing great with your challenges. Good for you. I've had And There Was Light on my shelf forever. And I really want to read the one about air. Maybe I'll do better with challenges next year. That maybe should be showing up in big letters. Get it - it's a big maybe! (I heard that groan!)
